Take back the power
At least 30 publishers rejected Abbie Hoffman’s Steal This Book before he published it through his own Pirate Editions in 1971. The book sold over a quarter of a million copies between April and November 1971. The number of those copies stolen is still unknown
If you are a kid smart enough to read Cryptonite, between jobs, a broke aspiring entrepreneur, or still need time to check us out, we welcome you to steal our e-lette ;) No matter what, our best work will always be free.
However, if you have any extra bread to throw in the bowl to help us better serve you, we would greatly appreciate it🙏🏼. As it is, we are honored to have you as one of our earliest and most active members.
Abbie Hoffman has written a hip Boy Scout Handbook, a manual for survival in the counter culture. If you are a teenage runaway on the lam, or a 50‐year‐old executive finally gone bananas and about to drop out, then what you should probably read it. “Steal This Book” will tell you how to get the necessary stuff for free: food, clothes, housing, transportation, medical care— even money and dope. It explains how to start an underground press, how to get in the newspapers, how to make stink bombs, and procure a false ID. It tells you vital things, like what not to bring to a demonstration (contact lenses, ties, grass) and what to do if you are gassed, beaten up and arrested.
The Vietnam War-era rebellion centered on protecting the freedom of expression and seeking to take back power from centralized authorities. Sadly, the Gallup poll today shows that our distrust of institutions is even more profound. We are merely living in a modern take on the same old show.
At the same time, we have experienced incredible advancements in innovation that are steering us towards a greener planet and a longer, healthier life. Thousands of Web3 entrepreneurs are building decentralized apps across all industries, so we can get business done privately, peer-to-peer, without intermediaries and their usurous fees. Good things are coming, and we remain optimistic.
“The decentralized future is not just about creating new applications; it’s about rethinking how we organize society. You shouldn’t have to trust any single person, institution, or centralized organization to transact and get things done.”
—Vitalik Buterin, Co-founder and developer of Ethereum

What's Going On?
Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - yeah
Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today, ohPicket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Yeah, what's going on
Tell me what's going onMother, mother, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply because our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
